That's right boys and girls, moms and dad and those who aren't sure venture back to the early and mid '80's when Commodore 64's and TI994A's roamed the earth and share in the saga of Bob and Joe building software in their garage.  Relive the days of Chuck and Andy and Dandy Don agonizing over customer support. We accept no advertising. If you find these tomes of value request you send $15 per year to support the costs of server space. Just as you feel guilty about not pledging to public radio, feel guilty if you use this stuff and dont help us keep it going. We shall continue that tradition and please consider contributing stuff you have developed so others my modify it for their own use. Hell, if librarians cant figure out how to share, who can? If you want to see how we started, check out the first issue here.   OUR PHILOSOPHY I'm not into fancy web sites. Its the content stupid. I believe in the good old jump command and using the find function of your browser as opposed to the nightmare of maintaining convoluted links. If this server would support cold fusion, I might add some jazz but it doesnt so I wont. I also believe that you ought to get where you want to go in three mouse clicks, and this site will try to adopt that philosophy. Perhaps its a life-long homage to Ernest Hemingway, a "clean well-lighted place." Wow if library building projects would adopt that philosophy there would be a lot more stuff to use on the marble floors. It's not the toys, its the service you provide. You've got folks to serve, and you need to figure out how to cost-effectively use microcomputer technology to do it. Save the cutting edge stuff to the guys in the Defense Department. They have bigger budgets. If you dont remember the old paper version, there is enough stream of consciousness to make Faulkner puke. Sometimes you have to go three paragraphs to find the completion of a thought. So much for the homage to Ernie. And if I am wrong and you point it out I will be happy convey the error. I also encourage feedback, and news of stuff you're doing that I need to know about. In the old days that required to Uncle Sam. Now you can just email me. (link here)   HOW WE GOT TO BE HERE (the backstory)   Disclaimer and/or Statement of Responsibility The Wired Librarians Newsletter is published by Micro Libraries, 297 Hammertown Road, Jackson OH 45640 eric@wiredlibrarian.com. wln:ntbu, is the sole responsibility of Eric S. Anderson. All statements, wisecracks, bits of wisdom and opinions are his. The webmaster is absolved of all guilt. If you've got neat software or a url I need to check out, send us the real thing and save yourself a press release. We don't do demos, memos, or weekends with yuppies. My lawyer loves it when folks threaten to sue and he ain't lost yet. Not a threat, not a promise and until the crowning of George the II we still have a first amendment. I haven't been to a theater in years (I believe it was "Who Stole Roger Rabbit") so dont expect me to shout fire. Opinions are mine, soley mine and do not reflect anyone I have ever worked fo=, folks I might want to work for, or my ex-wife. We are available for parties, weekends and bar mitzvahs .    This page was last updated Tuesday, November 08, 2005 by webster@wiredlibrarian.com
