Annual Luncheon Speaker Series, November 21, 2008
The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum is excited to announce that Bill Schneider, CNN's senior political analyst, will be the keynote speaker at our Annual Luncheon Speaker Series event. Mr. Schneider has been called "the nation's election-meister," "the Aristotle of American politics," and "the most consistently intelligent analyst on television." In addition to his work on CNN, Mr. Schneider is also a contributing editor to the Los Angeles Times, National Journal, and the Atlantic Monthly, and is the co-author of The Confidence Gap: Business, Labor and Government in the Public Mind.
The Annual Luncheon will be held on Friday, November 21st at 11:30 am, at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel and Conference Center in Staunton. New Library and Research Center
The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum has embarked on a historic campaign to raise $2 million to acquire, renovate, retrofit, and endow a beautiful historic two-story mansion, called Kenwood by its previous owners, directly adjacent to the Dolores Lescure Center, which houses our Woodrow Wilson Museum. This building will be renovated into an incomparable Library and Research Center that will be fully integrated into the existing campus.

Congressional Legislation and the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library
The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum is pleased to announce that Senate Bill 3477, the Presidential Records Preservation Act of 2008, passed the Senate and the House at the end of September and was signed into law by President Bush on October 13th. While the federal presidential library system safeguards the history of Presidents from Hoover forward, this legislation establishes a system for preserving pre-Hoover presidential history. The bill establishes a matching grant program through the National Archives and Records Administration for organizations like the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum that preserve and make accessible historical materials for pre-Hoover Presidents.

Newest Acquisition- The Sullivan Collection
Donated by Garry and Fran Heiser, this collection relates to John L. Sullivan, who served in the White House Secret Service detail and was one of the six Secret Service agents who accompanied President Wilson to Paris for the Peace Conference. Mr. Sullivan received a personal letter of commendation from Frank J. Wilson, chief of the Service in Washington, D.C., shortly before he died which said:
Your record indicates that the quality of service rendered has been altogether meritorious. When a government officer's service has been consistently satisfactory through all the vicissitudes of one-quarter of a century of law enforcement work, this in itself demonstrates devotion to duty and a faithful giving of his best energies--day upon day, month upon month, and year upon recurring year.
